PRINCE CHARLES RUNNING HIS CAR ON WINE

At a time when petrol prices are soaring in Britain, we are all looking for alternative and cheaper ways to fuel our vehicles and reduce our carbon footprint. It seems Prince Charles has found a novel way to run his car and help the environment at the same time. The Prince has converted his beloved Aston Martin to run on wine! The 38 year old classic car which was Prince Charles’ 21st birthday present from the Queen, has been converted to run on 100% bioethanol fuel which is distilled from surplus British wine. The fuel is made from surplus supplies from local vineyards.

Prince Charles has always been a big supporter of green issues and in the past described climate change as, “the biggest threat to mankind”. He has already converted his Range Rover, Audi and Jaguar to run on biodiesel fuel produced from used cooking oil. Meanwhile his father Prince Philip uses an LPG powered taxi cab to travel around London to attend engagements. I’ve always admired Prince Charles' great commitment to environmental issues. He is a shining example to all of us.

Good on him! The concept of "surplus wine" eludes this imbiber, but I am impressed nonetheless!

You are the perfect person to ask this question. It really doesn't matter how much you pay for gas. What matters is how it relates to the cost of living in that area. So, the question is - How does the price of gasoline in England compare with the Cost of Living? Have both gone up, or has the gas price outdistanced the average lifestyle of people there?

The surplus wine idea sounds very interesting. I would think France would be able to do that, for sure, and even California here in the US.

Sorry it's been so long since I have stopped by. I have missed reading your blog.

Interesting concept, but I wonder how much fuel is used to create the biofuel.

Yes it's great to see Prince Charles setting such a good example to the rest of us Sandy.

The answer to your question unfortunately is Yes on both counts Rosemary. Yes gas (or petrol as we call it here in England) has gone up considerably. Everything else has gone up here too, including food, gas and electricity. Yes all these things including rising costs of petrol have outdistanced the average lifestyles of people living here. More and more people here are finding it increasingly difficult to afford to run a car, especially if they have a family. I agree Rosemary, a lot of other countries including America could try the wine idea. Nice to see you again. Hope you are ok. I missed you!

Not sure Jon as I don't really understand how it all works but in theory it seems like a really good idea. Thanks for stopping by. Nice to see you over at Diary From England again.

What I like about Prince Charles is his love for medicinal plants and his dislike for the scandal seeking media.

Yes Prince Charles has always been interested in medicinal plants and protecting the environment. Thanks for stopping by Roy. Hope you enjoyed your visit here.

He can afford to run his car solely on olive oil.

I'm sure he can Relax but he'd be much healthier eating it. Olive oil, especially the extra virgin variety is so good for the heart and circulation. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed your visit here.
