Buckingham Palace announced the engagement this weekend of the Queen’s eldest grandson Peter Phillips to his Canadian girlfriend Autumn Kelly. Peter Philips is the son of the Princess Royal (Princess Anne) and like his sister Zara, he doesn’t hold a Royal title or carry out official Royal engagements. Both Peter and his sister try as much as possible to keep a low profile out of the public eye, not easy sometimes when you’re related to the Royal family.
For those of you interested in the Royal family, Princess Anne or the Princess Royal as she is known is the Queen’s second child and only daughter. Princess Anne is a tireless charity worker and one of the hardest working members of the Royal family. The Queen also has three sons. Prince Charles is the Queen’s eldest child and heir to the throne. Prince Andrew or the Duke of York as he is known is the Queen’s second son. The Queen’s youngest son is Prince Edward or the Earl of Wessex as he is better known. I guess because they are trying to stay out of the limelight, I didn't realize that the Queen had more grandchilren! Great post!!
Have you seen the "Earl Grey Iced Tea" commercial...it is great where the old gent defends the Queen!!!
I love British royal history. Particularly I would like to know why the Princes have these different titles and what do they mean. Adore your blog, girl. Thanks for the link--it's an honor to have you in my blogroll. Have a wonderful evening.
I remember all the fuss in the press when Princess Anne (my favorite Royal) said she would not give her children titles as they must decide what they wish to do with their lives. Wise Mother.
Yes the Queen has 7 grandchildren in total Janey and another one on the way as Edward and Sophie are expecting another baby.
I haven't seen the Earl Grey Iced Tea ad. We don't have that here. Sounds interesting Janey!
Glad you enjoyed this post Gatekeeper. I will do a special post just for you re. the titles. I do appreciate the nice comments. Thanks a lot. I love your blog and can find you easily now you are in my blogroll. I find it hard to remember urls!
I always thought Princess Anne was very wise to do that Jackie. Her children were never spoilt and they both hold down full-time jobs. I think she had the right approach.
