DEMISE OF LITTLE CHEF CHAIN

I was sorry to hear of the sad demise of the Little Chef chain of American style diners. Little Chef has provided a welcome break on long journeys to many families over the last 40 years. I spent many happy times there as a child. The all day breakfasts, especially the maple syrup pancakes were delicious. Little Chef has been a British institution for so many years, a welcoming sight by the roadside. They will be sorely missed.

Hi, just found your blog randomly on Blogsbywomen. I have memories of a Little Chef which was only 5 mins from my home in Lancashire (now living in Ireland) Although it was so close to our house, I always wanted to go in and see what it would be like to eat food other than my Mums!
I'll call again.

Overpriced, overcooked greasy food in ugly chain resturants - no thanks - not surprised they went out of business. I used to call them Little Thiefs.

I hate to see favorites of mine go by the wayside. There is just something about these experiences of our childhood that sticks with us.

Thanks for your comments everybody. I have fond memories of Little Chef from my childhood. However with the current healthy eating trend, I can understand how they wouldn't be so popular nowadays. Maybe they would have been better to introduce some "healthy" options to their menu like Macdonalds have done.
