TIME MACHINE COULD SOON BE REALITY

Time is a precious commodity in our busy world. None of us seem to have enough of it. I’ve always been fascinated by time travel and the very idea of being able to travel backwards and forwards in time. The subject has prompted many films and tv series including HG Wells The Time Machine, Back to the Future, Doctor Who and The Time Tunnel. This week an eminent professor revealed plans for how a real-life time machine allowing us to travel back in time would work. Based on Einstein’s theory of general relativity, the professor states that if time is bent enough by the gravitational pull of objects, you can create a loop and the possibility of time travel. Science fiction could it seems one day become reality. Fascinating!

I would love to travel back to the 1950’s and meet my Irish great-granddad who I never knew. He died before I was born. Re. characters in history – I’d love to meet Winston Churchill – one of the greatest leaders of our time and also Marie Curie who discovered radium. Both would make interesting dinner companions. We would certainly not be short of things to talk about! Now over to you! I would be interested to hear from other readers on this. If you could travel back in time to any century – where would you choose to go? What characters from history would you wish to meet? Go on let your imagination run wild!

That's a tough one. I'm not sure I would focus on "who" so much as "what" or "how." To see how Stonehenge was constructed, or the Great Pyramid of Egypt would be awesome.

That would be wonderful Granimore, to see something like that. I actually visited Stonehenge a few years ago. It's a very interesting place and the pyramids are a true wonder of the world. One of my friends went to Egypt a while ago and visited them.

I would love to go back in time and visit my Gypsy forefathers.

I'd also like to have dinner with Shakespeare. If I'm gonna dream, I may as well dream big!

I'd like to meet King Solomon. I would view all his riches, and ask him some questions...as he was the wisest man who ever lived. I would also ask him to tell me more about his father, David.

I would like to see Jesus Christ perform a miracle, and walk with him for awhile (asking more questions, of course)

There are so many people I'd like to meet that I will have to stop right here.

I would have to say that my sons and I would unanimously decide to go back to the old west. TnT would do something heroic like fighting at the Alamo and I would want to be the first to discover a beautiful valley or help Lewis and Clark map the west!!!

That would be interesting Marion and I'm sure Shakespeare would make an excellent dinner companion. He was one of the most talented playwrights that ever lived.

Wow Sharon - King Solomon - he would have so much wisdom to share with us all and to walk with Jesus and be able to ask him questions - that would be a humbling experience for us all.

I knew you were going to say that Janey. I think you and TnT would be right at home in the old west, making history happen!

Fun post, Naomi. I'd pick Italy since I studied Latin in school and have visited several times. Period wise it would have to be early Rome.

As far as an individual, it would be Gandhi.

I studied Latin at school too Sheila. Early Rome would be a very interesting place to visit. Gandhi would be an interesting person to meet. I'm sure you would have plenty of things to talk about.

How wonderful it would be to travel back and meet those who changed our lives by what they did or wrote in their lifetime.

Gandhi would certainly be on my list as well. I would also like to visit Ancient Egypt and Alexandria before the destruction of their historical records.
