Warwick University researchers have found a link between heavy metal music and intelligence. It seems that children with high IQ’s often feel isolated and seek solace in listening to heavy metal bands like Ozzy Osbourne’s Black Sabbath. One researcher said that talented pupils appreciate hard rock as it’s quite a challenging form. So there we go.

Yes it is interesting Sheila. In the past people always used to associate classical music with high IQ's and intelligence. Heavy metal is definitely the other end of the spectrum!

i believe this is very true, metal was formed fro mclassical music so there a connection there. most of the metalheads i know are very intelligent people, studing subjects such as physics, chemistry and biology.
Yep, I was looking at the history of metal the other day and it was indeed formed out of a certain kind of classical music.
And the influences continue to this day, in BOTH directions in fact.
So definately not opposite ends of the spectrum, at least not music-wise =)
