Many areas of Britain came to a standstill this week as the heaviest snowfalls for 10 years reached 15cm in some places. The severe weather conditions caused disruption to road, rail and air travel. Schools were also closed in many areas, giving the nation’s children a chance to enjoy sledging and snowballing in the snowy conditions.
