WOMEN PLAYERS TO NET EQUAL PAY AT WIMBLEDON

With increasing evidence of the gender pay gap between men and women in the workplace, it was good to hear that Wimbledon bosses have finally come to their senses and agreed to pay women competitors the same prize money as their male counterparts. The decision announced by the All England chairman on Thursday comes after many years of campaigning. The chairman, Tim Phillips stated that he believed the decision to offer equal prize money, provided a boost for the game as a whole and recognised the enormous contribution that women players make to the game and to Wimbledon. It’s a great shame other employers in this country can’t follow Wimbledon’s example.
