HAPPY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

I’ve always loved the circus. My grandpa used to take me there every year as a special treat, when I was growing up. I’ve always enjoyed the fun and excitement of the big top. I particularly like the clowns. I think it’s always nice to be able to enjoy some good old-fashioned slapstick fun, a welcome release from all the bad things going on in the world. I’ve chosen to share this photo with you. It was taken several years ago, before digital photography was around, on one of my annual circus visits with my grandpa. It has great sentimental value to me. I can still remember when the photo was taken just like it was yesterday. The clowns were called Uncle Tick and Uncle Tock (like the sound a clock makes! – easy for a child to remember!). I felt quite special that day to be singled out from the crowd to have my photo taken in my best bib and tucker! Whenever I look at this photo, it always reminds me of the happy times I spent with my grandpa, a very special person in my life. I always associate clowns and circuses with the happy, carefree days of childhood.

It's wonderful that you have such good memories of being with your grandfather. I'm sure this photo is a treasure to you. Great story and photo, I try to do things like this on my blog too, just to have a record of it for my kids if nothing else.

I'm visiting from the photography carnival.

I love happy memories and how special it is to have it captured on a photograph. Also, I'm loving the vintage quality of the picture. Here's to making more memories.

Thanks for your lovely comments everyone. Yes the photo does have great sentimental value. It's hard to believe it was taken over 30 years ago but it still feels like yesterday!

Naomi,

Thanks for directing me to this post. What a precious photo! What a sweet, pretty little girl you were! This type of post, and the photograph with it, are so, so, so special.

Something else is very special about this post, as well: You posted it on the Ol' Man's birthday!

I love your blog!
