LINK TO RED MEAT AND BREAST CANCER

A Leeds University study has discovered that older women who eat even small amounts of red meat raise their risk of breast cancer by 50%. Apparently younger women who eat red meat every day also put themselves at increased risk of developing the disease. Frightening news.

As meat is an important source of protein, experts suggest having it as a treat once a week and the rest of the time having chicken and fish. Perhaps it’s a good time for all of us to take stock of our diets and consider eating more vegetarian meals or even going completely vegetarian.

Good post, Naomi. For years most U.S. beef contained growth hormones and goodness knows what else. At least now we can buy beef without all of this. I think the best thing like you said is to restrict the amount of meat, chicken and pork, using it more as a condiment. My son got a steak at a restaurant the other night that was big enough for three people. We have become gluttons and we are paying for it with our health.

I agree Sheila, a lot of the disease in our society today is caused by the bad diet we eat in the West. In years gone by there wasn't the variety of food available but people were a lot healthier.

The factory farming industry is as dangerous as the tobacco industry as all problems now being reported were discovered years ago.

Dairy is the biggest cause of breast cancer in the last 20 years. Teenage boys and girls are getting it not just post menopause women. Make sure your milk is certified organic.
