I smiled when I heard about the mysterious cat that has regularly taken the No. 331 bus in Wolverhampton for the past 3 months! It seems the cat usually jumps on the bus at a certain stop, sits near the front and waits patiently until the bus reaches a couple of stops along, which just happens to be opposite a fish a chip shop! Then as soon as the doors open he’s off! At first many people believed the cat was with someone but it soon became obvious he was a lone traveller! Bus drivers and commuters have grown quite fond of the cat who they have nicknamed, “Macavity”, after the mysterious cat in the T.S. Elliot poem. The bus company which runs the service said the cat certainly knows how to use buses and is a regular traveller on the No. 331! One passenger remarked that Macavity is the perfect passenger. The only problem is he never pays!

This is a cute story but sounds like an urban legend.
Certainly does Sheila. It sounds like it just came out of a storybook but it is actually a true story.
Hi, I found you via the Village and stopped to say hell.
The cat story does sound like an urban legend but I have known some pretty smart cats in my life.
I always knew cats were amazing creatures...I wonder who he lives with, because surely no one could "own" such a cat!
Not only does Macavity get a free ride...he probably also gets a free meal at the end of it!
A cat that takes free rides should be good at evading tax too. I'll be glad to learn a tip or two from him... :)
I heard this on National Public Radio (NPR) yesterday. They did say that he never pays.
Hello Princess Haiku. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed your visit here.
I think Mcavity will definitely get a free meal Marion. That's probably why he's so eager to ride on the bus!
I'm sure we could all learn a tip or two from this cat Bizwhiz. Thanks for stopping by.
This cat has now become famous all over the world Bill, due to several news reports, including mine!
I love it!! Our cat never ceases to amaze us with her intelligence, so I find it quite believable. But then, I'm gullible, anyway LOL.
Well Rosemary most animals including cats are a lot more intelligent than we think. This cat certainly seems to be!
I will second your comment that animals are smarter than we think! I find that so true with our cats, dogs, and horses!! And too...I am a little gullible myself!!!
