The majority of British pensioners are struggling to survive on a state pension that is one of the worst in developed countries. According to the results of a National Pensioners’ Convention survey, one in five British pensioners live in poverty, with one in ten so poor that they are malnourished. Others are dying of cold because they can no longer afford to heat their homes. As living costs, including fuel and council tax continue to rise, many pensioners are finding it more and more difficult to make ends meet.
